How is a jewel made?

Goldsmith processes, 2020-04-10 01:04:15

In this section we make a brief explanation of some goldsmith processes used in jewelry making.

First, we have to sketch an idea.

We smelt our material in the melting pot, before we empty our liquid silver inside our ingot box, which will give us a square or rectangular form, depending which one we need.

Annealing the piece is a fundamental step so that when we brandish it with our hammers or we use our motor, it’s easier.

A leather mallet will help us shape our metal.

The process of milling with a motor.

One of our favorite processes it’s the oven: we apply a lost-wax casting process to the casting tree.

Then we work the vulcanization process.

We model in wax our sketch to help us with a visual before working the hard materials.

Once the piece has been vulcanized, we get our rubber molds.

It’s time to work the metal! Our most spectacular process is welding our piece, we are witnessing a new piece of art being born!
